Today I listened to the ‘Oct 26th 1949’ tape. It is quite a short one. You can listen to it here
Uncle Phil has lost track of time, it seems. He thinks it has only been three days since he started hallucinating, but it is actually the fifth day today. I, contrarily to him, am all too aware of the time that has passed.
I am not enjoying myself.
I had nightmares again, more and more intense. I am short-fused and impatient with Dad, which I absolutely hate… He is simply being his sweet old self, but now I am annoyed at anything he does. I only want to be alone in my room. The tapes are always on my mind, when I am not working on them. It has become ridiculous, but like Uncle Phil stuck in front of his reflection, I seem to be drawn to the tapes, the story.
I need to know more.
I just know that I cannot, under any circumstance, fast-track my process and listen to the rest of the tapes now. I can’t explain why, I just know that I cannot do it. So, to go back to the tapes… Uncle Phil describes his reflection becoming bolder, mocking and mimicking Uncle Phil and enjoying the disturbance it has caused him.
Uncle Phil rages:
“I can’t stand it much longer”
I agree with him.
