The Westerly Tapes - Wed 27/10/21

Updated: Oct 29, 2021

Had nightmares again... I didn't get any sleep after they woke me. I just couldn't bring myself to risk having any more, so I tried to stay awake. I am just irritated from my disturbed sleep and the fact that I am somehow letting all this rattle me. I need to get a grip… Today’s tape is labelled ‘Oct 27th 1949"

Uncle Phil is nearing his breaking point. He locked himself in his room and is barely eating the food that Anna, the maid, left at his door. He ignores his wife when she comes and begs through the door to be let in. His hallucinations keep him in. He says it, much like I said it myself yesterday.

Neither can I leave. God knows why, but I can't.

It chills me to my bones. It is all o creepy.  I relate so much to him. The obsession, the lack of sleep or hunger, the need to keep to himself. I barely spoke to dad this morning. I left my room, yes, but only to avoid worrying him. I barely touched my breakfast and went back upstairs as soon as I could. I just want to see this thing through. I need to form an opinion, I'm no quitter.

Next instalment 28th October

The Westerly Tapes is a Halloween Horror by Julia Mersobian and Nathan Schulz, for The Drama Merchant, based on the short story by Paul Compton. The voice of Westerly is performed by Kent Lee
